Following rapid growth over the last decade, and coupled with strategic acquisitions in 2016, Solar is now dedicating part of its operation to understanding and bringing to-market a portfolio of solutions that are set to disrupt the enterprise technology landscape, launching its ‘Disruptive Technology’ division.
The cloud communications provider provides new and innovative capabilities across a range of leading edge technologies, now serving 2,000 mid-market organisations across the UK business community. The business has a portfolio including SD WAN, Cloud UCaaS, Contact Centre, On-site and Cloud Storage and a wide range of business-enhancing solutions.
Jason Evans, who joined the business following last year’s acquisition of RDC, has been appointed Director of Disruptive Technology and he will oversee a dedicated team of seven within the organisation, as well as the extended capabilities of the rest of the business.
Working with Solar’s strategic vendor partners, Jason and his team are tasked with helping adoption of leading edge disruptive tech within the UK business mid-market.
With a current focus on SD-WAN, Solar is working with Gartner Magic Quadrant-vendor Silver-Peak, enabling businesses to leverage ‘better than private line’ security and performance over internet bandwidth, whilst delivering ‘direct-to-cloud’ connectivity when and where it is most effective.
With a host of high-profile customers in automotive, legal and professional services sectors already utilising the solution, it is proving highly disruptive to traditional Wide Area Networking (WAN) solutions, enabling businesses to deliver more agile, performant, resilient and cost-effective connectivity.
Jason Evans said: “As more and more businesses move to a ‘Cloud First’ strategy, traditional Wide Area Networking solutions have created significant cost, performance and security challenges.
“My team within Solar is dedicated to delivering best-of-breed solutions to challenge and disrupt the legacy business technology landscape, supporting and enabling the next wave of digital transformation. Our Silver-Peak EdgeConnect SD-WAN solution is key to enabling an effective ‘Cloud First’ strategy for customers.”
CEO John Whitty said: “The strategic acquisitions that were undertaken in 2016 have bolstered expertise and offerings across a range of technologies. Jason and the ‘Disruptive Technology’ team have great heritage and have successfully demonstrated the market is ready to adopt these new solutions, to promote further cloud adoption over the past few years by leading the way and showing some major organisations what benefits they can deliver.”
