Pennine Rebrands to Reflect New Business Direction

Pennine Telecom has today unveiled a new name, look and website for the 40-year-old communications business.

The Bury-based company will now be simply known as Pennine, with the ‘Telecom’ suffix dropped in recognition that the business now offers a much broader portfolio of specialist products and services. These span its original specialism – two-way radio – along with unified communications, mobile telephony and newly launched hosted voice and data facilities plus IT support services.

New identities have been created for each of Pennine’s five divisions, PennineUnified, PennineMobile, PennineRadio and the new PennineCloud and PennineITservices operations.

In addition the company has launched a new corporate strapline of “Connect, Communicate & Colloborate” which further amplifies its expertise in providing sophisticated integrated solutions which enable organisations to be more productive and responsive.

The shake-up - the biggest since the company renamed itself as Pennine Telecom from the original Pennine Communications over 30 years ago – has been marked today with the simultaneous launch of a new website, www.wearepennine.com

“It’s vitally important that our corporate identity and brands effectively portray Pennine as the diverse business it is now, not the telecoms company it was,” commented marketing manager Belinda McGee. “As technologies have emerged and converged in recent years, the lines between voice, data, video and other services have become blurred. Businesses today want integrated and innovative solutions that enable them to work smarter, allowing them to better connect, communicate and collaborate.

“This rebranding exercise really gets across what Pennine is about. The creation of a high impact corporate identity has been supplemented by colour coordinated sub-brand icons which clearly distinguish and promote the specialist services on offer.”

The new look was created by Manchester agency PDC, with the website designed by Bury’s Fluid Digital and has been launched in Pennine’s 40th anniversary year. The company was originally founded in 1976 as a Motorola two-way radio service agent before taking advantage of the 1980s liberalisation of the UK telecoms market to enter the telephony sector.
