Pennine has won the Outstanding Achievement

Data, networking and communications specialist Pennine has won the Outstanding Achievement title at the Made in Bury Business Awards (MIBBA).

The company joins an elite band of businesses to collect the accolade with its previous winners including JD Sports, Melba Swintex, Milliken Industrials and HH Smith & Sons.

Having accepted the award from the leader of Bury Council, Rishi Shori, at the awards black tie finale, Pennine’s managing director Andrew Roberts commented:

“This is a proud moment for Pennine. We are both honoured and delighted that our achievements over the past 41 years have been recognised by our business peers. It’s an amazing honour.”

Founded in 1976 as a two-way radio specialist, Pennine later entered the telecommunications sector following liberalisation of the market in the 1980s.

It continued to diversify and today the £17m turnover business employs 75 staff and offers a broad range of specialisms. These include unified communications, mobile telephony, hosted voice and data facilities plus managed IT support services.

Along the way the company has secured an impressively diverse client list which spans SMEs, Blue Chip corporates and public sector health and educational institutions. These include BAE Systems, Manchester City Football Club, Sellafield, Sodexo and The University of Manchester.

The latest chapter in Pennine’s growth story saw the business being acquired last December by Nycomm Group.
