Introduced and managed by Ofcom, the TMBS scheme provides assurance to customers on the accuracy of bills received from providers of electronic communications services. Although Ofcom only requires participation from communications providers with annual turnovers in excess of £40m, Union Street has sought approval on a voluntary basis.
As part of the process, Union Street was required to demonstrate the effectiveness and consistent accuracy of its billing operations in compliance with TMBS requirements. This included a comprehensive risk review of Union Street’s products and services. Union Street then worked to implement new processes and adopt new working practices in accordance with TMBS standards.
Speaking on the reasons behind gaining approval for TMBS Chief Operating Officer, José Fernandez, comments, “As part of Union Street’s ongoing commitment to adopting best practice across all areas of the business, we have voluntarily worked to achieve compliance with standards set out by the TMBS scheme. Gaining approval for TMBS is a big achievement for Union Street and represents a significant effort on the part of the Union Street team, especially our Head of Bureau Billing, Nicola Newstead.
“We believe channel resellers should seek the assurance of TMBS when choosing a billing service vendor. Our partners can be confident when using our products and services of the very highest levels of billing accuracy.”
