Cathy has 20 years’ experience in telecoms regulation and compliance. This includes 12 years with PhonepayPlus, (the regulator for premium rate services), four years as compliance manager and numbering contact at Invomo, (the network operator) and two years as Membership and Regulatory Manager for Action 4, (the premium number operators’ trade association).
“I have attended several events hosted by the FCS over the years, and have always been impressed with its remit, its operating style and its profile in the industry,” she says.
“Having worked for both the regulator and the regulated, I am aware of the financial impact of regulation and the effect that it can have on a company. FCS is engaged on some really powerful workstreams at the moment, and I’m looking forward to getting to grips with the issues and supporting the industry.”
In her new role, Cathy will work closely with Michael Eagle, who is taking a career break at the end of August, and plans to spend the next few months travelling in America.
“Michael’s professionalism and determination has been absolutely core to FCS over the last few years,” says FCS CEO Chris Pateman. “When he first told us of his plans for a break, we were obviously concerned to ensure we could find another exceptional individual to maintain the pace Michael has set, and to build upon the excellent ground work he has laid.
“We’re delighted to have secured Cathy’s services. And we’re delighted Cathy and Michael will have two months working in tandem before Michael leaves. Cathy has already shown she has the skills and experience to hit the ground running, so we are confident our work for the fixed line and mobile community will go from strength to strength under her stewardship.”
