51-year-old Anthony Grady has teamed up to work alongside his son Dominic, having landed the new job of balancing the books at Abbey Telecom.
An AAT qualified accounting professional with a career spanning over 34 years, Anthony’s new role at the Blackburn based telephone installer will include paying suppliers promptly, keeping an official track of company spend, and filing accounts to ensure an accurate trail of invoices, receipts and payments.
“As any proud father would, I have followed Dominic’s career with great interest,” said Mr Grady senior. “As a result, I’ve got to know many of the Abbey Telecom staff pretty well in recent years.
“When he came home from work one day and mentioned that there was an accounting position available, we thought why not see if we can work together. So I jumped at the opportunity and a couple of interviews later I’ve landed a job just a few desks away from my own son!”
Anthony, who lives in Darwen, is a former pupil of St Mary’s College in Blackburn and his career has included a range of accounting and book keeping roles with IAC Plastics and Quality Inks.
And 25-year-old Dominic is just as pleased to be working alongside his Dad: “He always keeps an eye on me and I’m sure it will be more than the company books that he keeps in good order,” he quipped.
