BT Business Partners Target Cloud and Mobile Markets

Cloud
In May, BT Business Partner Sales met with their partners for their annual partner conference at BT Tower. Hot topics that everyone was talking about were cloud services, and the huge opportunity that still exists within the mobile market. Martin Clarke, General Manager, BT Business Partner Sales opened the presentations by looking to the year ahead and identifying key areas for growth. Martin was first to highlight the market opportunity within the areas of cloud services and mobile.

Martin said that we could also expect to see BT Business Partner Sales, “deliver a step change in broadband and mobile and to drive further growth in data networking and managed WAN.” He was also keen to embrace new sales opportunities in IT services, M2M, security and surveillance."

John Goy, Head of Sales, BT M2M, shared some key aspects of BT Machine to Machine. The team sits in the same part of BT Business as BT Business Partner Sales and has over 20 years of experience and knowledge in M2M. This is perhaps one of BT’s best-kept secrets! The business provides two way secure managed networks for M2M devices, connecting customer owned devices to customer owned hosted systems using private and secure mobile, cloud and wired services. John said, ‘We currently connect hundreds of thousands of devices, and the areas for application are seemingly endless, with existing customers in verticals like transport, retail and banking.’ Expect to see growth coming from this area over the coming year.

Another area Martin mentioned as demonstrating potential for growth was security. BT Redcare has a long history within the security and surveillance markets, with BT Redcare Surveillance connecting over 44,000 CCTV video channels across the UK. Brian Jackson Head of Sales, BT Redcare Surveillance, shared some of the applications for the technologies BT has available. A note in case you didn’t know - IP migration is now happening across UK Public CCTV – 90% of which is currently analogue.

Emma Staples, Social Media Manager, BT Business, was on hand to give the partners some tips on how to get more active with their social strategies. She touched on something that many of us in the communications technology industry struggle with sometimes - how do you get social about products that can be very niche? Emma’s advice - find points about your business that excite your audience.

It looks to be an exciting year ahead for BT Business as we see more innovation in areas like M2M, security and cloud services. Martin said, “We’ll work closely with our partners to get them engaged in the opportunity to exploit new areas of the portfolio.”
