Vodafone are planning to make headway into new areas to them by offering a total package including mobile phone, internet, landline, and phone video services. Assuming a successful trial in Germany, Vodafone could launch the new service in the UK for a yet to be disclosed monthly rate.
British Telecom and Cable & Wireless have been rumoured as possible lease partners in any future roll-out as Vodafone set their sights on fixed line operators.
A spokesman for Vodafone said 'In Germany, we already have the fixed-line network Arcor which is the reason we are rolling it out there in the last quarter. This is an exciting new strategy and one we will be pursuing in all our markets, the UK included.'
He went on to say that Vodafone are looking to move away from strictly mobile phone technology and become a 'lifestyle' provider, with the first step being to expand it's broadband related services.
