Unique signs exclusive deal with daisy

Daisy Communications, one of the UK’s largest independent service providers in the UK, has signed an exclusive deal with Unique Distribution

The deal will allow business partners of the UK’s second largest distributor of mobile handsets to sell daisy’s fixed line solutions. A new Unique division has been set up under the name Unique Telecom to provide “a one-stop solution to the business sector to complement [Unique’s] existing mobile convergence propositions”.

daisy and Unique have developed four products directly addressing the needs of small-medium businesses. These include highly competitive call tariffs and discounts against BT Retail line rentals, plus three bundle solutions including inclusive minutes, line rental and broadband options.

The offer from daisy includes comprehensive online billing, a one-bill solution for the customer’s fixed-line communications, and access to a team of trained business advisors from its UK-based call centre.

Meanwhile Unique business partners will enjoy generous up-front commission payments and a wider portfolio of products to sell in to their customer base.

Unique employees from field staff to office staff have been provided with extensive training by daisy to support business partners; the BPs have been given access to a comprehensive portfolio of dual-branded PoS information and sales tools.

Unique’s John McFarnon thinks the deal is a good one for BPs. “We have developed the service to mirror the mobile contract commission concept where payments of up to £125 per line provide an exciting new revenue stream for independent mobile specialist resellers targeting business users.”

Unique Telecom is offering commission payments within 14 days of receipt of a signed contract.

Matthew Riley, daisy CEO, said the deal was confirmation of the company’s intention to continue organic growth while embarking on new channel relationships. “The exclusive relationship gives Unique business partners the opportunity to expand into the fixed-line market and at the same time allows daisy’s products to be taken to a completely new customer base,” he said.

“daisy has big plans for 2007 and this relationship is further evidence of the company’s commitment to forging new channel relationships and driving the business forward.”

daisy's sales have grown sharply since Riley, a former call-centre software developer at Deutsche Telekom, borrowed £20,000 against his home to launch the company in 2001. Currently daisy is turning over around £24m and provides broadband, mobile and landline services to around 20,000 businesses at prices typically 25% below BT’s. The copy launched a mobile division – notably 3G data cards and Blackberry solutions – in September 2005.

Unique Telecom will be headed by Phil Jackson, who has many years experience of both fixed and cellular contracts within the business sector.
