Sony Ericsson Z610i

Networks & Network Services
It has been a long time since Sony Ericsson succeeded in putting so much charisma into a mobile phone – maxxing the feature set has always taken priority over good looks.
Well, here’s the Z610i; the clamshell has a sleek mirror-like finish, comes in three luscious colours, and sports an invisible OLED display which is activated only when the phone has been closed or when any side key been pressed. For the rest of the time it remains hidden behind the reflexive surface of the device. SE apparently copied this idea from Sony’s tiny portable music players.

The Z610 supports 3G, has a 2mp camera (no autofocus or flash though), and has one of the best keypads on the market. There’s a secondary camera for video calls, a Memory Stick Micro memory card slot, and a music player. So basically it’s a K610? Well yes, but with stunning looks and that eye-catching ‘secret’ display. And it’s a decent all-rounder as a phone.

We had to look hard for flaws. There’s no Infrared port (but who actually uses IR?) and no radio, but the only real criticism is the lack of protection for the camera lens. We can live with that.
