Sanjiv Ahuja has relinquished his role of CEO at Orange “to take on new challenges outside the group”, though he remains chairman of the UK board.
He appears to feel that the “mission” for his four-year stint – to integrate Orange with the France Telecom Group – is now complete, and “the time is right for me to move ahead with some exciting new ventures”. France Telecom will be a partner in at least one of them.
He's replaced as CEO by Olaf Swantee, formerly a customer services VP at HP but conspicuously not a mobile phone man.
