LG Optimus 3D Optimus Prime OK, this isn’t a robot that can turn into a lorry, but as the great Autobot once said, “No sacrifice is too great in the service of freedom,” which is exactly what this handset signifies; the first step in a new level of mobile fun and freedom, in the form of 3D.

The LG Optimus 3D is the world’s first full 3D smartphone. Don’t worry, you won’t have to don a pair of those dodgy 1950’s style 3D glasses as you do at the cinema. This actually works to the naked eye.

This phone’s dual five megapixel lens camera allows users to capture and record 3D images and video anytime, anywhere. The bright 4.3 inch WVGA display lets users to view content without the use of 3D glasses both in 2D (up to 1080p) and 3D (up to 720p).

Users can also navigate through the device’s 3D interface with the click of LG’s unique 3D Hot Key, which presents five 3D-dedicated UIs, including Gallery, Camera, Game&Apps, YouTube 3D and 3D Guide.

3D content can easily be shared on 3D TVs and monitors via an HDMI 1.4 connection, or users can upload and stream their 3D creations on YouTube’s dedicated 3D channel (youtube.com/3D) directly from their handset.

The LG Optimus 3D uses LG’s ‘tri-dual’ technology: dual core; dual channel; and dual memory. Unlike other dual core smartphones, the LG Optimus 3D offers significant performance benefits as a result of the faster transfer of data between the dual core and dual memory. This enables users to browse web pages, multitask between programmes, play games at a higher frame rate and enjoy movies more smoothly than ever before.

The phone will initially be released with Android 2.2 (Froyo) and will be upgradeable to Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).
