fring launches customised mVoIP for Cloud users

Mobile VoIP provider fring has announced a mobile VoIP client which will be optimised for WiFi access service The Cloud.

The joint service means fring users with Cloud access will be able to call and chat for free to other fring users and to Skype, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger (MSN) and SIP contacts. They can already do that over 3G and GPRS networks as well as soon other WiFi services.

fring-enabled phones will automatically recognise, login and register on The Cloud network with their fring and Cloud credentials automatically activated and synchronised.

“As a leading provider of WiFi access across Europe, we are constantly expanding the range of innovative services we offer,” observed Owen Geddes, Director of Business Development at The Cloud. “Partnering with fring enables our users to easily access The Cloud from their regular GSM handsets to make free mobile Internet calls and real-time chat.”

The Cloud currently covers 7,500 locations across the UK including all of the City of London.

fring has just improved its appeal by adding Windows Mobile 5.0 and 6.0 to its list of compatible handsets. “Like all fringsters, Windows Mobile users now have real mobile independence to make VoIP calls at no extra cost with rich presence indicators and hold multiple live chat sessions with their mobile, PC and landline contacts all from one integrated contact list,” observed Avi Shechter, Cofounder and CEO of fring.
