The trademark ‘sunrise’ registration period for .mobi was scheduled to end on August 22, but Dotmobi, the registry managing the .mobi domain, has extended it by one month.Dotmobi says a number of companies have asked for more time, citing late application paperwork as well as noting that July and August are vacation months. Dotmobi also wanted the extension for “an IP and trademark outreach program”, which appears to mean a marketing and education campaign to get as many trademark holders as possible on board. The new end date for trademark and IP holders to claim their domain names will be September 22.
