By all accounts the CTIA Wireless 2007 trade show in Florida last month was pretty uninspiring in terms of new products – except for another of HTC’s boundary-blurring PDA-cum-laptop phones.
The HTC Shift is a HSDPA-ready 3G-plus-WiFi phone … only with a QWERTY keyboard, slide-up wide-format touchscreen, and Windows Vista. Basically it’s a fully fledged micro-laptop, measuring approximately 190x130x30mm, but with a SIM card slot. As HTC’s CEO Peter Chou out it, “These new devices bridge the gap between being mobile and being in the office, giving customers new choices for how they work, communicate and live”. The HTC Shift will be available in Europe in Q3 2007.
