VoIP industry specialist Paul Harrison clocks in to thevoicefactory. Comms Business visits the innovative wholesale hosted telephony platform provider
After five years spent working at BroadSoft®, Paul Harrison has joined thevoicefactory to manage partner relationships, across the business.
owered by the latest enhanced BroadWorks® release, thevoicefactory provides a carrier class platform that accommodates the latest in Unified Communications technology including:
• HD-quality audio,
• desktop integration
• video call capability
In choosing BroadWorks® as its core IP communications platform, thevoicefactory enjoys the same cost effective, high-quality VoIP service that more than 425 service providers around the world already rely upon.
Talking on his recent appointment, Paul Harrison commented “My work at BroadSoft helped me gather very valuable experiences. These, coupled with the innovative business approach I now see and backed by the support of BroadSoft, offers great opportunities at this time in the development of VoIP. Viewing VoIP as an enabler to connect so much of what has been developed in recent years makes perfect sense. thevoicefactory is working hard with partners to realise the potential of the momentum growth and allowing more traditional business issues to be resolved through innovation.”

with partners thevoicefactory CEO Martin Sims who has taken genuine partnership to be the cornerstone of the business strategy added “When we set out to build our platform, we started with Broadsoft and bench marked everything to this ‘best of breed’ thinking. We discovered that vast knowledge and experience resides in this Industry and was available to call on. This allows our business to remain focused on its aims to operate an innovative and robust carrier grade platform, whilst partnering with others in their own areas of specialism and expertise.’
Paul Harrison commented further “This approach is particularly important as it allows us to focus on bringing further innovation to our platform and therefore to our Partners. We are making great strides in areas such as mobile integration (MVNO) developments and leading the way with HD voice. This wouldn’t be possible without real partnership focus.”
To evidence this partnering approach, there is real enthusiasm for recent (and ongoing) working partnership arrangements between thevoicefactory and SIPHON Networks since launching thevoicefactory.
thevoicefactory chose and purchased Acme Packet’s session border controllers for their network because of their recognised position as global market leaders. tvf then received strong local support from Siphon Networks in delivering that solution cleanly. SIPHON Networks operates a Technical Centre of Excellence providing around the clock technical support with a captive lab and demonstration suite.
SIPHON Networks has been working with thevoicefactory since its inception and has provided professional services and support in helping to deploy a fully tested and integrated hosted services platform.
thevoicefactory has deployed it’s ‘best of breed’ approach to core platform build comprising of a BroadWorks® Application Server environment from BroadSoft® in combination with Acme Packet Session Border Controllers.
“We have a strong working relationship with thevoicefactory. They have deployed a strong core platform with some exciting and innovative differentiators on top. They have successfully and rapidly integrated the various components of their hosted platform and this is now delivering services that deploy easily and with great stability.” states Steve Harris, Director at SIPHON Networks.
Sims concurred. “We have known the team at SIPHON for a number of years and have worked with their support and skills complimenting our own. Some key components of our platform deployed promptly with joint effort. Our Technical Lead, Mark Fisher, continues to work with SIPHON around further platform innovations.”
making the connection ...with partners
Partnership reseller agreements signed behind the factory gates to date include John Murray’s venture Skyrack Technology, Logistics International PLC and Consega.
thevoicefactory offers an indirect model to support its partners as they address their target markets. White-labelled, robust and affordable access to a platform that satisfies and exceeds much of the future known requirements in the hosted telephony environment, coupled with the ability to integrate with emerging technologies are matched with maintained service quality.
making the connection ...with innovation
H.D. voice, video calling and hosted CRM integration are areas that thevoicefactory deliver now on their platform.
The innovative offering is being accelerated by the collaborative solutions being championed by BroadSoft® through BroadWorks® and working close with the likes of Polycom® that centre around integration of applications to make the working environment leaner and greener.
Sims states “We are working closely with Polycom to demo, pilot and deploy technology, and where appropriate, devices that really make the most of our platform capabilities. The intention is not merely to give a vision of the future but deploy video, H.D. voice and H.D. voice conferencing on demand now.”
To allow partners of thevoicefactory access to devices that enable deployment of some of these quality innovations promptly, VCOMM support the tvf channel partners with leading products and services on competitive terms.
Established in 2004, VCOMM has built a reputation as a specialist convergence supplier to the channel. VCOMM supply ‘best of breed’ products and provide wrap around support services across their complete vendor portfolio, from basic telephone and email support to providing a fully-qualified engineer on-site.
“We are working closely in partnership with thevoicefactory and their channel partners, not just to supply product promptly to deployment but also offering support services during the lifetime of Polycom hardware.” says Taffy Johal, Group Sales Director, VCOMM.
At thevoicefactory there appears to be a healthy link between the strategic grandeur of the exciting innovation and the practical necessity to get that innovation working correctly and deployed for business.
