Members of Team X2, from Evesham-based company X2 Computing, a leading provider of mobile computing solutions for order fulfilment applications, presented Rapid UK with a cheque for over £6,500 last week. The team of five cyclists recently completed a gruelling 905 mile fundraising challenge, which involved them cycling from Lands End to John O’Groats in an impressive nine days.

Jonathan Wharrad, Francis Davis, Joel Turvey, Dan Geisler and Noel Greaves made up the five strong team and they all completed the challenge. On their journey the team even found enough energy to drop in to visit the Rapid UK Head Quarters in Gloucester, where Jonathan Wharrad is a dedicated volunteer. It has been known for Jonathan, along with the rest of the Rapid team, to get a call and be at the airport 90 minutes later, on the way to help wherever disaster strikes. The rest of the cyclists found out more about the services their money would be supporting and the visit was a great chance for Rapid UK staff to thank them for their fundraising efforts.

Jonathan Wharrad presented the cheque to the Trustees of the Rapid UK team last week during one of the monthly training weekends. Jonathan said: "We are delighted that we were able to present such a significant sum of money to Rapid UK and that the challenge was such a success. This started out as an idea between a few friends and was transformed into great charity event where we’ve seen fantastic support from our colleagues, friends and family. RAPID UK is a charity close to my heart and as a team we’re absolutely thrilled to be able to do something which can help."

Nick Spence, Director of Rapid UK said: "I was delighted to receive the cheque on behalf of Rapid UK. We are staffed entirely by volunteers and rely heavily on donations. Without the support of local businesses like X2 we wouldn’t be able to operate. We’re extremely grateful for such a generous donation and congratulate the team on such an amazing achievement."
