The Manchester firm kicked off its open source operation at a Manchester Linux User Group (ManLUG) presentation in November – educating fellow Linux enthusiasts on essential tips based on the free open-source software.
UKFast’s Linux department, consisting of more than 20 technicians specialising in enterprise-level support, shared their knowledge with an audience of 50 on the set up of a Linux mail server. The team has now committed to holding regular discussions at MadLab (the Northern Quarter-based digital laboratory) to bring together budding Linux engineers in Manchester.
The Manchester cloud hosting specialist has nurtured a team of Linux experts, with more than a decade of experience in the Linux community, who are keen to support the open-source platform and raise awareness of the benefits it brings to business.
Now the UKFast recruitment division is tasked with finding the best Linux brains to grow the team.
ManLUG organiser, Daniel Botting, expressed his gratitude to UKFast: “The Manchester Linux User Group benefitted greatly in terms of knowledge which is the most important aspect, and I can't thank UKFast enough for a thorough and well-structured talk. It is one thing to listen to a talk but the addition of a virtual machine for each attendee made sure the information was retained by all who attended – this has never been possible before.”
