Terrar Appointed To CIF Board

Cloud
The Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) and the Federation Against Software Theft (FAST) have today announced the appointment of David Terrar to their respective boards, and simultaneously as Co-Deputy Chairman of CIF. With over 30 years of experience in the IT software and services industry, David will work with other board members to ensure that the industry bodies remain relevant in their respective markets.

David Terrar is the current CEO and owner of D2C, founder and CXO of Agile Elephant and has been part of the CIF governance board since the industry body was established in 2009.

As Co-Deputy Chairman of CIF, David will work alongside Frank Bennett, CIF’s other Co-Deputy Chair, and Dr. Richard Sykes, CIF’s Chairman, to guide the direction that the industry body takes as the cloud market evolves. His expanded remit will also see him apply his extensive expertise to promoting CIF’s Professional Membership programme, which provides IT professionals with a best practice approach to the adoption of cloud services.

David Terrar, Deputy Chair of CIF and FAST board member, said: “The latest CIF research once again revealed that cloud adoption rates have continued to grow and businesses are migrating more and more of their workloads and businesses applications to the cloud. But skills challenges remain and industry surveys suggest that the cloud skills deficit is growing. I believe that CIF, with its Professional Membership Scheme, plays an important role in bridging this skills gap, and is just as relevant an industry body today as when it was first established in 2009.

“Having worked in IT software my whole life and having been part of sales and marketing teams, it is vital that we reduce the illegal use of software which harms software publishers. This is FAST’s main goal, and I am looking forward to ensuring that software developers of all sizes get paid for their work, to safeguard future investment in innovation into new software solutions and services. I am delighted to accept both CIF and FAST’s board roles and look forward to working closely with all of the other board members to build a strong community of industry partners in both cloud computing and software protection,” David added.

Alex Hilton, CEO at CIF & FAST, said: “David’s successful track-record in IT software and services, as well as his several significant senior roles at major companies makes him an ideal board member at CIF and FAST. He has been on the CIF governance board since its inception and has helped oversee CIF’s continuous growth and helped us position ourselves as experts in the market, so we are delighted that he is extending his role. Similarly, at FAST, as the body continues to grow and as software theft becomes more sophisticated, his expertise and support will be invaluable to our cause and our members.”
