Tattersalls is the world's oldest, and Europe's largest, bloodstock auctioneers, specialising in thoroughbred horses. Frank Rowlands, IT Manager at Tattersalls, said: "A few years ago we introduced a business centre as a service for our clients and ever since demands for connectivity have grown exponentially -- especially as wireless devices such as smart phones, tablets and notebooks have become commonplace. Our auctions are a public affair, regularly attracting a thousand people or more. We wanted to give customers and spectators a reliable wireless service across the entire complex."
The grounds at Park Paddocks extend to some 43 acres with approximately 820 horses on site at any given time. Tattersalls' main sale at the end of the year sees a turnaround of two and a half thousand horses in the course of two weeks. Rowlands explained: "The beauty of the Xirrus solution is fewer cable runs and more densely populated radio coverage for large crowds. Xirrus was a clear choice over the competition as it provided superior coverage with fewer devices. With so many people in the ring, we were looking for performance that could meet high density demands, and we found it with Xirrus."
Sean Larner, VP of International Sales at Xirrus, said: "We're thrilled to be working with Tattersalls. The firm is a great example of how companies are innovating and diversifying to accommodate clients and to provide better experiences to customers and spectators."
