MPL, which has been based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent, comprises two core products, the market leading brand, Comms Business, and its related event, Channel Live. In future, the company will be based in MA Business’ offices in Dartford, Kent.
The purchase of MPL by MA Business follows three very different acquisitions MAG has made this year.
In the spring MAG purchased the largest special educational needs exhibition, TES SEN Show, from TES Global Ltd. A few months later, MAG acquired from Dennis Taylor Unity Media and Unity Exhibitions, which has several magazines and a major exhibition, the RCI Show, in the built environment. In November Community Care, a subscription-based resources for social workers, was bought from Reed Business Information, part of RELX Group.
Ben Allen, Chief Executive of MAG, said; “This is a great acquisition for us. I got to know Miles quite well when we sold him last year our golf magazine, Pro-Shop Europe. Miles has built up a very good company which, for personal reasons, he now wishes to dispose of, although, as a very keen golfer, he is going to retain the golf part of his operation.”
Mark Allen, Chairman of the Mark Allen Group, said; “It’s been a particularly busy year for the company, but we are delighted to have Miles Publishing on board. It’s a really good fit.”
Miles Bossom said: “After nearly 20 years operating within the ICT sector it is with a real sense of sadness that I am exiting. However, within MAG I know that my business, and, more importantly, my team, and our customers will benefit. My wife is battling breast cancer and it is imperative now that I spend as much time with her and my family as possible. I’d like to express my thanks to the many individuals and customers that have supported me over the years.”
