London Conference tackles small cell deployment issues

While small cells in dense urban areas are widely accepted as a cost-effective means of meeting demand for growing capacity, their deployment presents mobile network operators with significant challenges that must be addressed before the full benefits can be realised, says Cambridge Wireless. These issues will be discussed and debated at the Cambridge Wireless Small Cell SIG event, ‘Let’s Get Real!’ on 31st January 2013.

The half-day conference, hosted by legal firm Eversheds LLP at its London offices, will see five industry-leading speakers from Airspan, EE, Virgin Media, Agilent Technologies and Nokia Siemens Networks present their views on small cell deployment.

“Small cells started as a solution for coverage issues but have now become a salvation for mobile operators facing capacity crunch. While increased data traffic is driving the inexorable move to small cells, the technical and commercial challenges facing operators are significant,” says Zahid Ghadialy, Managing Director of eXplanoTech and Small Cell SIG Champion. “They include, but are not limited to, site selection and acquisition, backhaul, power, installation and commissioning as well as dealing with the regulatory issues needed to achieve successful metro cell deployment.”

Soraya Jones, CEO of Cambridge Wireless said, “We are delighted to be delivering another key event that is focused on one of the industry’s hot topics. Small cells are making the headlines and our panel of experts from our Small Cells Special Interest Group will provide some insight behind the hype and provide a platform to discuss the key issues with industry peers and influencers.’

The event is sponsored by Agilent Technologies and Microlease. For further details on ‘Let’s get real!’, or to register, visit the event page on the Cambridge Wireless website - www.cambridgewireless.co.uk
