This is an expansion of Murphy’s role as chief operating officer of Gamma, with his responsibilities now including the Gamma business unit, which encompasses the Channel, service provider and SME routes to market.
Daryl Pile, who helped to develop the UK wholesale channel community within Gamma, will leave the business to pursue another opportunity. Pile has spent 21 years with Gamma, where he held several senior roles covering wholesale, dealer and public sector business units.
Murphy (pictured) joined Gamma in 2011 and has held several leadership roles within the organisation. He has implemented process improvements, strategic initiatives, and created the company’s customer services department.
John Murphy, incoming managing director of Gamma Business, said, “I am excited and privileged to be taking the helm at Gamma Business. Daryl has done a fantastic job of getting the business to where it is today, and I look forward to building on the strong relationships we have with our channel partners.
“Together with the brilliant leadership and partner teams we have within Gamma I see a wealth of exciting growth opportunities for Gamma and the channel.”
Daryl Pile, exiting as MD of Gamma Business, added, “It’s been an honour to work with so many brilliant people at Gamma and our wonderful channel community. For all your efforts, achievements and friendship - thank you. Together, Gamma and the channel are a business built to last.
“Under the stewardship of John, Andrew Smethurst, Matthew Worboys, Mike Mills and the team, I have no doubt the business will continue to flourish. For the immediate future I am focussed on ensuring a smooth transition to John who I have worked with, side by side, for many years and wish him every success in the role.”
