“This is the first time the ITP has been licensed to award an IT technician standard to its members working in the telecoms industry” says Crissi Williams, CEO of the ITP. “IT technicians design, build and maintain the world around us, and this accreditation allows them to be easily recognised for the work they do.
The RITTech standard was launched by BCS in late 2015 and I am excited to be working with them to establish this standard in the market place. It is a valuable addition to the professional certifications available to our members who are so vital to industry and indeed the entire modern world around us.”
Registration is straightforward, and technicians are asked to complete an hour-long online assessment. Candidates are assessed on experience, technical knowledge and supporting evidence of their achievements. RITTech costs £45 for three years, along with ITP membership.
Paul Fletcher, CEO of BCS comments “We are delighted to extend RITTech to the telecoms industry. RITTech is an essential tool for ambitious IT technicians and this is an exciting time to become part of this standard, whether as an individual or a company, as you’ll be raising the awareness of technicians throughout IT and highlighting the importance of professionalism within this sector.”
Williams adds “Professional accreditation is an important milestone for any technician. It establishes proven knowledge, understanding and competence. For employers, it’s a great way to recognise technicians and the complex work they do. It can be offered as part of a recruitment package, and can help during the recruitment process – highlighting suitable candidates. In partnership with the telecoms industry and the BCS, we aim to encourage widespread adoption of RITTech as a national standard.”
