Asus is launching the ZenFone 4, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 6, and will follow these 3G devices with a 4G device in September. Further smartphones for the high-end segment will be available in the first quarter of 2015.
Following a long history of partnership between the two companies in other product areas including tablets, netbooks, and desktops computers, Asus has chosen Exertis Micro-P to launch its smartphone range into Britain following the initial highly successful launch of its mobile phones into China and Taiwan.
Simon Woodman, Mobile Sales Director at Exertis Micro-P, commented on the new partnership: “We are really pleased to be working with Asus in yet another category, smartphones. I believe the reliability of Asus’ products is second to none. In smartphones, Asus has created devices using A-Grade components that fit exactly to consumer requirements, even down to an innovative user interface called Zen UI that brings a premium look and feel to its phones. Asus’ devices include a multitude of high end features, which, when combined with the highly affordable price tags, mean everyone can now have a top class device for half the usual cost.”
Asus Sales Director, Steve Hope, stated: “We are committed to building a strong mobile business and have a comprehensive roadmap of future products planned. We entered the smartphone business with innovative high end products in the PadFone tablet-come-smartphone series. These products have now been accepted by the market, and so Asus has now reached the right time to begin selling mainstream models.
“We believe the experience we’ve acquired over the last several years stands us in good stead for building a successful smartphone business, and with our very good relationship with Exertis Micro-P based on years of success together, we are really excited about moving forward in mobile,” continued Hope.
The three Asus Intel devices are priced between £99 and £249, while the 4G device due to launch in September, which will be based on a Qualcomm chipset, will cost just £199. Hope said: “We are focused on providing the highest quality devices possible at extremely affordable prices, undercutting the competition both in terms of pricing and device superiority.”
