CyberScotland partnership launched

Cybersecurity
A new cybersecurity resource, CyberScotland.com, has been launched by ten organisations including Scottish government, Police Scotland and the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SRBC).

The CyberScotland partnership follows a growing need for clarity around cybersecurity for individuals and businesses, and will include the UK National Cyber Security Centre as a technical advisor.

Now live, the website is a single online resource for individuals and organisations across the public, private and third sectors seeking information and up-to-date guidance across a range of cybersecurity and resilience issues. It also includes information on skills development for anyone seeking to start a career in cybersecurity.

Ivan McKee, minister for Trade, Innovation and Public Finance said, “The new Strategic Framework for a Cyber Resilient Scotland launched by the Deputy First Minister earlier this week, outlines Scotland’s intention to be a digitally secure and resilient nation. The CyberScotland Partnership will help drive forward this ambition.

“Greater awareness of the cyber risks leads to greater demand for solutions and our cybersecurity industry can produce innovative solutions and offer high quality employment.”

Jude McCorry, CEO of the SBRC, added that the events of 2020 have highlighted the importance of cybersecurity, with the reliance on technology for work and socialising growing alongside a corresponding rise in cyberattacks. “The SBRC has discussed the formation of a collaboration between the organisations involved in the CyberScotland partnership for some time, as we have seen some confusion from the public about where to get the support they need,” she said.

The ten participating organisations in the partnership are: Scottish Government, Cyber Resilience Unit; Police Scotland; Scottish Business Resilience Centre; Highlands and Islands Enterprise; Scottish Enterprise; Scotland IS; Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations; Young Scot; Skills Development Scotland; and Education Scotland.
