As part of this shift Chess recently acquired the IT Solutions Provider Lanway, based in Burnley for over 20 years. On October the 21st the Founder and Chief Executive of Chess, David Pollock, opened the newly refurbished Chess ICT Burnley offices at the official ribbon cutting ceremony. Councillor Mark Townsend, Leader of the Burnley Council, was also in attendance.

Mark Townsend, leader of the Burnley Council added: “We’re delighted to welcome Chess ICT to Burnley. They have exciting growth plans which fit perfectly with our ambitions for Burnley and we are keen to support them. They are joining a successful business community in Burnley, latest official figures show our private sector job growth rate is double that of the North West and GB average. We’ve also just been named the friendliest place in Britain!”.
The changes within the Chess ICT division aim to bring recently acquired IT service providers, including Lanway, Pinnacle, Parachute IT and PowerC IT together within a single structure.
Steve Cox, who was recently appointed Chief Operating Officer, led the restructure and was responsible for looking at the individual businesses and the systems they were using before determining how Chess could bring these together as one team.
The new Chess ICT management team is led from a sales perspective by Andrew Henderson, who was previously the Managing Director of Lanway. Tamar Waite, who also came to Chess through the acquisition of Lanway, was appointed Head of Technical Operations and will lead the Chess IT delivery structure.
