As part of the push to encourage it’s people to embrace the challenge, Chess organised an electronic cigarette provider to visit its offices offering a healthier smoking alternative, with Chess purchasing the devices for its people. Over 10 of Chess’ people have managed quit smoking for over a month on the back of this initiative.
Anne Binnie, HR Director at Chess stated “It’s part of our culture to build a happy, healthy working environment for everyone in our business and we’re very proud of our people who have quit smoking in ‘Stoptober’. We’ve been voted one of the UK’s Top 100 Companies to Work For each of the last 4 years, and its simple initiatives like this that make a huge difference to helping improve the happiness of our people in the office and out.”
Chess has also been encouraging its male staff to join in ‘Movember’ by growing facial hair to raise awareness of prostate cancer. They will be organising a charity day later in November helping to change the face of men’s health.
