The report also features research from Trellix Threat Labs into connected healthcare and access control systems, analysis of email security trends and evolution of Russian cybercrime related to the conflict in Ukraine where new malware or methods have yet to be observed.
Findings showed that in Q1 2022, nation-state activity in the UK accounted for 11 per cent of the top ten detections among client countries, an overall increase of 600 per cent from Q4 2021. In Q1 2022, malware detections in the UK had an increase of 474 per cent from Q4 2021.
Companies providing external consulting, IT, finance or contract services were found to be targeted more often by bad actors than other businesses. Based on these findings and previous attacks on SHI International and Kaseya, Trellix said MSPs and MSSPs should ensure they have an incident response plan in place to mitigate an attack quickly and strategically.
