Big Technology Targets Big Opportunities Around Big Data

Cloud
A new distribution business officially launched in the UK this week, built to meet the specialised needs of major enterprises and their datacentre assets with a portfolio of seven vendors and a market-making pedigree in creating reseller value through disruptive technologies.

Headed up by Managing Director Jason Dance, the former Sales Director at Exclusive Networks UK, the company’s launch takes its cue from the glaring impact of ‘smart’ social user behaviour and its transformational effect on the increasingly centralised and pressurised enterprise datacentre which, in turn, spell high margin opportunities for reseller partners.

“Datacentres are struggling with big technology demands and need to cope with the pace of data growth as well as escalating expectations for reliability, lowest cost, highest performance and optimum user/customer experience,” said Jason Dance, Managing Director at Big Technology. “That’s the opportunity for the channel; to answer that need with intelligent, big-scale solutions capable of bringing order to the chaos and realising the promise of the user driven, software defined datacentre.”

Based at new offices in Theale, Reading, Big Technology is focussed on opportunities within the datacentre around big data storage, virtual desktop infrastructure, optimisation and the orchestration of virtual appliances. Its current vendor portfolio adds new distribution partnerships with Extreme Networks, Silver Peak and Tegile Systems to complement Avere Systems, Coraid, Nimbus Data and Nutanix brought across from Exclusive Networks UK.

"The datacentre is becoming ever more crucial as a business asset in the age of big data, and helping enterprises to realise and exploit that evolution is a major opportunity for top level resellers," said Steve Johnson, Regional Director UKI & Benelux at Extreme Networks. "We believe Big Technology can stimulate and address that demand for intelligent, massively scalable infrastructure, and support our partners to create maximum customer value in their datacentre deals."

“We’ve bought into the skills and relationships within Big Technology and we’re expecting this to yield significant market opportunities in the UK as we grow our partner base,” said Mike Hemes, Vice President Sales EMEA at leading application performance and data acceleration player Silver Peak. “Big Technology fundamentally understands the seismic shifts happening in datacentre evolution, particularly around storage and virtualisation, and that can only be good for what we’re trying to achieve.”

US based hybrid storage array vendor Tegile Systems has appointed Big Technology as its first UK distributor. “Working with Big Technology has really opened doors for us,” said Paul Silver, Vice President, EMEA, Tegile Systems. “When we made our debut in Europe six months ago, we sought a value-added distributor that we could trust and who would work alongside us in a true partnership. By partnering with Big Technology, we’ve added value by helping our partners become more successful and have forged deep connections in the channel.”

“We think the introduction of Big Technology is good timing, and that the UK is the right place to introduce this concept with a view to extending elsewhere across the Group,” said Olivier Breittmayer, CEO at Exclusive Networks Group. “The volume, velocity and value of data is rising exponentially, generating a complex problem that only greater intelligence – not just greater horsepower – can resolve. Big Technology’s bold vision is to enable its partners to address this huge market opportunity and to help enterprises build a new generation of user driven datacentres."
