Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALU) was recognised for its technology innovation as it was announced that market research firm Gartner, Inc. placed Alcatel-Lucent in the Leader quadrant of its "Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony" published September 17, 2012 authored by Jay Lassman, Geoff Johnson and Steve Blood.

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise was evaluated based on completeness of vision and its ability to execute which resulted in a position in the Leader quadrant. The SIP based Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX IP Telephony suite is a keystone of the OpenTouch Suite which delivers collaborative Conversations for Enterprises. These businesses are ready to journey on a path taking voice communications to multimedia conversations using a wide range of solutions, from hybrid telephony to a full suite of unified communications and collaboration solutions, including visual collaboration across all devices.

The Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony is based in part on "breadth, quality and overall maturity of their applications, processes, tools and procedures that enhance individual, group and enterprise communications." Gartner recommends decision criteria for corporate telephony should focus on scalable solutions that support Session Internet Protocol (SIP), desired levels of resiliency, desktop and mobile functionality, and the ability to integrate with enterprise IT applications while delivering the performance and voice quality demanded by users.

As stated in the report, "leaders are high-viability vendors with broad portfolios, significant market shares, broad geographic coverage, a clear vision of how telephony needs will evolve and a proven track record of delivering telephony solutions. They are well-positioned with their current product portfolio and likely to continue delivering leading products. Leaders do not necessarily offer a best-of-breed solution for every customer requirement. However, overall, their products are strong and often have some exceptional capabilities. Additionally, these vendors provide solutions that present relatively low risk."

Eric Penisson, General Manager, Communications Business Division, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise commented “The solid technology and features historically notable in Alcatel-Lucent’s communications solutions are the basis of its leadership in Corporate Telephony. We are leveraging these indisputable assets to build the foundation of our next generation conversation experience, called OpenTouch, and deliver a flexible architecture that natively brings voice, conferencing, and visual collaboration to businesses in any context and on any device.

We offer smooth transformation paths that spur innovation with the assurance of future capabilities supporting the rise of the “bring your own device” culture and the shift to cloud-based services. We believe our position in the leader’s quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Corporate Telephony reflects a robust end-to-end offering and a strong vision committed to support enterprises and service providers evolutions.”
