We have taken a look at several apps over 2015 all of which have served a useful purpose to those working in, or running, a business. Over the year some apps have stuck around whilst others have been sent to the recycle bin... here we take a look at the best of 2015.

Travel

Uber

Use a lot of taxis? This app could just save you time and money. Uber connects users to drivers in more than 70 cities through 20 countries. It’s an on demand service and you can link it to your paypal or credit card so you never need to worry about having cash on you. It allows you to sit back and enjoy the ride, it will even email you the receipt for your journey so you can easily fill out your expenses. Available on iOS and Android.

Waze

Born in the US Waze has is now making a splash in the UK SatNav scene. It is very easy to use and relies heavily on its vast database of users. The app gathers information from other ‘Wazers’ giving the user real time information on traffic jams, with rerouting options, temporary and fixed speed cameras. The best bit about the app is it is free, although you need a data connection to download your required map and traffic information. Available on iOS, Android and Windows.

Meetings

Citrix GoToMeeting

GoToMeeting is one of the easiest conferencing apps to make it to market. With GoToMeeting, starting a meeting is a one-click prospect, invitations can be distributed on the fly, and users can audio conference via VoIP or a toll-free call-in number. GoToMeeting is free for up to three attendees, £30/ month for up to 25 attendees. It’s cheaper than many of its rivals and does just as well as its nearest competition from Cisco’s WebEx. Available on iOS, Android and Windows

Tempo Smart Calendar

Running late for a meeting is unfortunate but sometimes it’s just out of your control. This handy app is your go to remedy whether you are stuck in traffic or your last meeting overran. It allows you to send out default messages to a number of people at once to let all of your meeting attendees know you are running late. The best bit is the app is designed to allow you to do this in just a few taps. The only hitch is if you don’t use the app to organise the meeting in the first place then you have to let it know which of your contacts are attending. NOTE: Tempo was acquired by Salesforce earlier this year and is currently offline.

Task Management

LogMeIn

Sometimes you just want to take your PC with you on the road, it has everything you need on it and it just works the way you like it. LogMeIn gives you access to your desktop from anywhere you have data connectivity. The app includes file management features that allow you to download files from the desktop. File transfer, file sharing and remote printing capabilities allow a remote worker to stay connected with their office from anywhere. Handily, LogMeIn offers 24/7 app phone support also. Available on iOS and Android

Things

This task management app can help any business professional become more productive in double quick time! Things allows users to create tags to assign contexts, priorities, time and whatever is sitting in your workflow. The app is designed for simplicity and allows users to quickly filter for relevant, time-sensitive tasks so they can complete them on schedule.

Things also features a Quick Entry window that they can use to record new ideas instantly and add tasks without interrupting their work. This ensures those light bulb moments don’t get swept under the carpet. Available on iOS

Managing Contacts

Contacts +

Organise your contacts with this app and you will be able to integrate all your contacts with their social media profiles too. The app automatically syncs to social media accounts and provides information from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ allowing you to browse profiles all in one place. You can also view your recent communications from each contact as well as their social media posts. This means you can keep conversation histories for your friends, family and colleagues. It is incredibly easy to use and also allows you to Facetime and email contacts from within the app. Available on iOS and Android.
