The differences come down to whether they double for WiFi (not so useful now that so many laptops come with built-in WiFi), how good the accompanying control software is, and how appealing the accompanying tariff is.
The Web’n’Walk card scores in all departments. It is a quad-band 3G card, has WiFi, comes with the best-looking business tariff – unlimited use, flat-rate of £19.99 (the card is free with 18- or 24 month Web’n’Walk Professional contracts).
It also comes with T-Mobile’s excellent Communications Center (sic) software, which will automatically connect you via the fastest available T-Mobile network – which in descending order would be WiFi hotspots (users get 12 months free access to hotspots), then 3G HSDPA, then 3G UMTS, then GPRS.
And the HDSPA is a big plus. T-Mobile plans full-scale launch for its HDSPA network later this year.
So is it a good buy? Well, it’s certainly a solid product – and it’s definitely a good deal. And an HSDPA-ready connection at no extra charge is an attractive option.
