Wayfinder, the live sat nav provider, has launched Version 6 of its Navigator application for phone. As part of the enhanced offering, Wayfinder claims to be the first vendor in this rapidly evolving marketplace to offer a world map service on mobile phones – users can view and zoom in on any location in the world.
As well as traditional navigation services, Wayfinder Navigator 6 features extras like regular weather checks, city guide books, and currency converters.
“With world map coverage in your hands, it is possible to find your way throughout the entire world,” observed Wayfinder CEO Magnus Nilsson. “This makes Wayfinder 6 the most complete mobile navigation service on the market.”
It offers turn by turn navigation in the UK, Europe and USA; a Postcode Search facility that can navigate to within 2m of the desired destination; and over 3m points of interests across Europe. Additional-cost options include speed camera alerts (over 11,000 camera locations, including mobile) and live traffic information in association with Trafficmaster.
Wayfinder will run on most modern handsets – over 50 are currently supported. Symbian phones can download larger map areas, but Java and Windows phones will still be able to maximise the overall service level.
Wayfinder is currently running a promotional offer with Navigator 6 – free map updates forever.
