Vodafone Germany plans to disable calls from VoIP providers from July 2007. VoIP is widely regarded as a threat to the networks’ voice revenues, though currently 3G data rates and coverage are not good
enough to support a useful internet-based voice connection. The 2007 date is sufficiently far in the future for Vodafone to change its mind if it can find ways of living with VoIP.
