Nick Read, CEO Vodafone UK: giving advertisers a compelling propositionVodafone has signed a mobile advertising deal with Yahoo! that promises to create “an innovative mobile advertising business that will enhance the customer experience on mobile phones while providing both companies with a new revenue stream”.
Yahoo! will become Vodafone’s exclusive display advertising partner in the UK, and will provide a variety of mobile advertising formats across Vodafone’s content services.
This should be rolled out in the first half of 2007. In return for accepting “carefully targeted” display advertisements, customers will get savings on some services.
Vodafone said it intended to develop mobile advertising as part of the ‘mobile plus’ strategy unveiled in May. Nick Read, chief executive of Vodafone UK said: “We will use the experience [of customer trials] to determine how best to ensure customers … get better value as well as a richer mobile experience.
“This will also ensure that advertisers are given a compelling proposition.”
