Samsung Mobile’s UK MD Mark Mitchinson is getting on his bike. Along with National Account Manager Robert Staines, he’ll be cycling down the Nile in aid of the children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent; they hope to raise £10,000.
It’s decent trek – 450km in five miles – and associated events include a giant charity auction at Chelsea FC. The club is also associated with the charity, and Samsung of course is its shirt sponsor.
The charity is one that is close to Mark Mitchinson’s heart; he said “We have developed an excellent working relationship with CLIC Sargent during the first two years of Chelsea FC shirt sponsorship and I am delighted to have the opportunity to set a personal challenge to support this worthwhile cause.”
Former England rugby captain Will Carling, a friend of Mark Mitchinson, has contributed to developing fitness régimes for Mark and Robert’s . He said: “Having been a professional athlete for a number of years myself, I understand the fitness commitment needed to undertake such a grueling task as cycling the Nile for 200 miles in the heat.
“Mark and Rob dedicating their time and efforts in achieving this goal, whilst aiming to raise £10k for Clic Sargent, is something that should be both admired and supported.”
Querida Williams, Head of Corporate Fundraising from CLIC Sargent, wished the pair luck. “It is exceptionally important to us and to the children that we help that people like Mark and Rob take the time and effort to embark on this type of challenge.
