The Daily Telegraph reports that a number of large telecoms groups are collaborating on development of a mobile search engine to bypass the likes of Google and Yahoo for customer searches and so get into a lucrative online advertising market. The Telegraph said Vodafone, France Telecom, Telefónica, Deutsche Telekom, Hutchison Whampoa, Telecom Italia and the American network Cingular were expecting to meet at 3GSM to progress the idea.
