We reviewed a Nokia N95 a couple of months ago on the basis of a pre-production model and the promise of imminent availability. The latter has come to pass a little later than we expected, but the N95 – already a strong candidate for phone of the year, at least in terms of its functions – is now ready to ship.
It’s relatively compact, build quality seems excellent, and the spec includes in-built GPS, a 5mp camera with Carl Zeiss lens, DVD-quality video capture, WiFi and HSDPA connectivity, TV out, and an innovative two-way slide mechanism with dedicated music keys (you’ll have to try it for yourself). It’s a star, and Nokia is giving it the star treatment with a big marketing campaign. No word yet on networks, and the SIM-free price will be a scrotum-tightening £600 according to Nokia.
