The RAZR is now two years old, so it’s about time Motorola came up with the Next Big Thing. Here’s the KRZR – a bit slimmer and more comfortable in the hand, though 5mm longer and 2mm thicker than its predecessor.
It feels good, with high quality materials and solid construction; and It certainly looks good – top half is covered with mineral glass, said to protect from scratches for longer than usual (we didn’t tested that though), and the glossy dark blue surface has neat violet highlights under particular conditions.
Said beauty comes at the expense of the legibility of the external display, even away from direct sunlight. And it attracts fingerprints. The main display is sound, though of low resolution, and some of the better ideas have been copied from the V3x. There’s a 2mp camera, a slot for a microSD memory card, USB charging, and Bluetooth.
On the downside, it’s not really much of an advance on the original RAZR. And while there are two music players, you have to ask why they needed two distinctly average players instead of one really good example. The camera takes very poor pics, too. A missed opportunity.
