The C710 is a top of the range device and is equipped with maps of 24 European countries and a built in TMC receiver. The C510E is based on the same technology and comes with full UK mapping and Major Roads of Europe (MRE) installed with full maps of 24 European countries on a DVD, making this device exceptionally good value for money. Users can enter a full postcode for direct navigation. Navigating without postcodes is just as easy - as each letter of an address is entered, the device narrows down the options into a list so the user can identify their destination. Navigating to work or home is straightforward - once these addresses have been stored in the device, pressing the work or home button begins navigation. A destination history list allows the user to navigate to previously visited destinations by simply selecting from a list.
For detailed journey planning both devices provide a step by step overview which the user can review and amend before setting off, meaning journeys don’t contain any un-expected surprises. There are modes for large vehicles or caravans which avoid narrow streets and low bridges.
Thousands of Points of Interest (POI’s) - including restaurants, petrol stations and other local attractions - can be searched for by name, category or location. The POI database contains telephone numbers so you can call your chosen destination before arriving, perfect for booking tables, checking opening hours etc. The predictive POI search speeds up choosing destinations by suggesting places as you type. It is also possible for the users to add their favourite destinations under POI.

The device design ensures that the C510E and the C710 are uniquely suited to navigation in pedestrian mode. Small and light, it fits easily in your hand and the anti-glare screen improves visibility.
Built in Speed (Safety) Camera Warnings
Users are given an audio and visual warning as they approach a speed camera location. A database of speed camera locations with free downloadable updates for the first year is integrated in the two devices. Users can enter additional camera locations should they find them. If several users identify the same new camera location Mio will then verify the camera and make their locations available for all registered owners to download.
Avoiding traffic congestion free of charge
Both devices help drivers avoid congestion this summer with support for the Traffic Messaging Channel (TMC) system. The C710 has a built in TMC receiver and will receive live updates of traffic problems and will either automatically plan a new route to avoid problem areas or provide the user with a choice of a new route or continuing on the original route. C510E users can purchase an optional TMC receiver and antenna to have the same TMC functionality as the C710.
Safer motoring
Hands free calling is included amongst the safety features along with a reminder of the speed limit of the current road and optional audio and visual warnings should this be exceeded.
The Bluetooth facility allows motorists to take phone calls hands free without fiddling with their mobile, allowing them to keep two hands on the wheel. The device will continue to navigate in the background whilst in a call so navigation can resume as soon as the call ends.
Beyond Navigation
Both devices can be used to play MP3 files and view photos via the SD card slot. If your digital camera stores images on the SD card format then these two devices are perfect for viewing photos on the go. They both synchronise with Outlook so you will have all your contacts with you wherever you are. Furthermore, it is possible to navigate to a contact by simply selecting their name.
With the latest SiRFstarIII GPS receiver, a 400 MHz processor and touch screen destination entry, these devices have one of the highest specifications on the market today. Both weigh a featherweight 170g and at 110mm long and 20mm high are slim enough to fit into the smallest of pockets or hand bags.
