Active Got to Go

Major Northern Mobile Phone Company Activmobile will be no more as of 1st February 2007. The Fone Logistics retail arm has been sold to Go Mobile.
Fone Logistics said the sale was an opportunity to get back to their core business of distribution, and focus on the SME and b2b side.

Negotiations yesterday confirmed that there would be no redundancies. Store managers were told their jobs were safe and would not be asked to take a £2000 salary cut, as was first rumoured.

But, they were warned if they failed to reach their new targets in the first three months they would be fired. This has come as a shock to most and some will be considering other companies to work for as Activmobile had a friendly “family-like” atmosphere that most feel will disappear.

Activmobile’s 14 stores as part of the Go Mobile chain will make a total of fifty-three. Some towns in the midlands already have two Go Mobile shops and with these new additions the worry  amongst staff is that some stores may close anyway.

Iain Humphrey, Go Mobile MD, said: 'We are committed to growing a retail brand with strong regional presences. Our business model is built around achieving a critical mass of stores and in trading each of them to its max.'
