Up Close and Personal meets 3Com Country Manager Gary Newbold who believes it would only take him a day to sort out any problems the UK is facing.
The 3 Cs in the name 3Com stand for Computer, Communications and Compatibility. Since delivering the industry’s first Ethernet network interface card (NIC) for connecting computing devices nearly 30 years ago, 3Com has seen the world embrace its vision of pervasive networking. 3Com has worldwide business infrastructure, with a presence in over 40 countries and a total of 1500 employees. Organisations are currently undergoing a transition, upgrading networks which now enable a switch to be wireless. This will in turn push remote working from home and increase productivity as people work more and travel less.

4X4’s Chelsea tractors? Same as lorries, they should have tax incentives to drive at night and not be allowed to move out of the inside lane and over take each other. This would cut our congestion problems!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given? Never let activity slow down!
And the worst? All advice is good because of the thought process it provokes; taking the wrong decision is the bad thing.

If you could pick anyone to go to dinner with who would it be and why? Margaret Thatcher. She is the last leader we have had who understood what hard work is all about and she would not let people and political correctness walk all over her.
What could you not live without? My girlfriend, soppy I know but true.
Do you have a hero? In business Alan Sugar and in sport Kevin Peitersen.
If it all went belly up tomorrow, what would you do? Start again, that is the only thing to do.
What would you do if you were invisible? Find Kylies house!
If you could be anyone for a day, who would it be? The Prime Minister so I could sort this country out and it would only take a day believe me! Or if it was a day off then Tiger Woods.
Your best blag ever? Being in a training course with a number of our competitors where we had lots of role play to do. We complained that our company didn’t allow us to put our skills on display and got away with it….no role plays brilliant!
